DOJ Reviewing Planned FOIA Changes

In March, Justice proposed a rule that included provisions designed to protect confidentiality that would permit agency officials to deny the existence of certain documents being requested under FOIA when in fact relevant documents exist.
In a November 3, 2011 letter, DOJ said it was reconsidering the planned change.

OPM Agrees to Protect AUSA Personal Information on Internet

Effective January 15, 2009, OPM has agreed to protect such information for all employees of United States Attorneys’ Offices (USAO) under Exemption 6 in response to requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

The Office of Inspector General examined the allocation of resources to US Attorneys Offices over the period FY 2003 - FY 2007. Among the findings of the report was that USAOs have experienced a significant gap between allocated attorney FTEs and the number of FTEs that USAOs are actually using.
