Not all crimes are preventable — but some are. The serious crimes that have been committed recently by lawfully convicted felons who were prematurely released from prison as a result of so-called sentencing reforms, when these felons otherwise would have still been in prison, clearly could have been prevented.

On September 7, the House Oversight and Government Affairs Committee released a 214-page report with a chronology of events on the data breaches of background and fingerprint data, detailed findings from their investigation and recommendations for corrective action.

On August 23, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform sent a letter to the President of John Hancock Financial Services, the Federal Long-Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP) provider asking for more information on the “premium increases and their effect on federal workers.
